      January 2026 General Membership Meeting and Installation of Officers

      The Susquehanna Chapter hosted 38 members and guests at our General Membership meeting held January 21, 2026 at MacGregor's Restaurant in HdG.

      The meeting was called to order by President Bob Beahm, who led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and invocation.  A moment of silence was then held for fallen comrades.  

      A vote was taken on the change to Bylaws, Section IV, Article V on voting, stating “If there are not enough members physically present to hold an in-person vote, the Board of Directors may approve the use of a virtual quorum or digital voting to complete the voting process.” Howard Beardsley moved, Keith Reagan seconded that the motion be approved. Motion carried.

      Keith Reagan, Chair of the Poster and Essay Contest, reported that 10 essays and 103 posters were entered in the Poster and Essay Contest. He  introduced James Skalli, the first-place essay contest winner from Harford County middle schools. James, an eighth-grade student at Fallston Middle School read his essay on the history of women and African Americans in the United States military.

      Keith also announced that the next general meeting would be at Coakley’s Pub on 18 March with guest speaker, Asha M. George, DrPH, Executive Director, Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense.

      A dinner break was taken. Following dinner, COL. Troy Johnson, APG Garrison Commander, was introduced and spoke on the role of Aberdeen Proving Ground since its inception in 1917. At the end of his presentation, Bob presented Colonel Johnson with a certificate of appreciation and said that a donation would be made in his name to the MOAA scholarship fund.

      Erwin Henz, a ninth-grade student at Harford Christian School, read his winning essay in the high school category. It was on 250 years and beyond of the U.S. military.

      The 50-50 raffle winner was Jessica Ryu, who returned her $79.00 back to the chapter. The total collected from the raffle was $158.00.

      The Benediction was given by Chaplain Bill Whitford. The meeting was then adjourned.
